BEING HAPPY IS A CHOICE
Either you make it or don’t but the fact of the matter is your quality of life depends on it.
Neurological Research looking at the physical outcomes of practicing gratitude found if you truly feel it when saying “Thank You” you’ll not only be happier but also healthier.
Now I’m not a doctor and understand depression is REAL so if you can’t be happy no matter what it’s probably time to get some help.
If you eventually can shake whatever it is than you’re making the decision to do so, good choice.
Are you good or are you making it harder on yourself (and others) because you’re unhappy?
Dr. Phil often asks guests, how much fun are you to be around? If the answer is “not much” than guess what, you need to change it up!
You may think you have it bad but would you agree there are others who have it even worse?
If push came to shove, guaranteed there are others who’d love to be in your shoes right now.
It’s easy to get caught in the weeds with day to day stresses and life in general but let’s face it there are many out there who have it worse.
If the issue at hand is not really an issue, just a nuisance, stop ruining things for yourself.
Everyone has got something but what matters at the end of the day is how you feel about yourself. When you can get past the hardships you’ll succeed no matter what the outcome is.
Easier said than done. I get it. These tricks will help you learn how to be more grateful in life.
10 TIPS TO START FEELING HAPPIER TODAY
1. Start Journaling
What can you be grateful for? Think about it.
What do you take for granted? Maybe it’s your health, Grandma or exceptionally white teeth.
Whatever it is medical experts recommend you write daily. Pick at least three things you are grateful for. Even if it’s difficult, dive deep.
2. Live in the Moment
The past is over. The future is not here yet.
Time is NOW!
If you’re not busy thinking about would have, should have, could have OR what you’ve got going on later you can actually enjoy the moment.
It’s more impactful no matter what you’re doing, everyone/everything gets your FULL attention.
3. Take a Tech Break
Live life, don’t just sit and read about it. This coincides with number two. The point is to fully engage instead of half-assing everything.￼
We’ve also all heard the effects social media has on people comparing their lives to what they see and thinking they don’t stack up.
You’re getting the best of the best of what people want to show you. If you can’t help feeling less than when scrolling, put it down.
￼4. Find a Confidante
Do you have at least someone you can tell ANYthing and everything to? It’s therapeutic.
It can be a family member or a friend or even a therapist if you’d prefer but you’ll feel like a million bucks getting added weight off your chest.
In a pinch I’ve even unloaded on strangers in check out lines, just get that monkey off your back. Once you talk about things bothering you you’ll start feeling better almost immediately.
5. Just Do YOU
Are you a people pleaser? Do you say yes even if you want to say no? Follow your heart.
Do more of what you enjoy doing. Stop living life for others, it’s all about you and yours.
Life is too short to not do you. It can change on a dime so be sure you’re doing things that you truly want to do not and pleasing everybody else.
6. Stop Negative Thoughts
Whenever questionable thoughts start digging in, adopt a positive mantra to put into play.
Find a phrase you like and squash it like “I’ve got this” or “Forget about it.” Keep it on repeat.
Distraction is also key. It works like it does with a toddler so when uncontrollable negativity arises do something to get your mind off it. #stat
7. Try New Things
Whatever it is you want to really do and haven’t for whatever reason, take the plunge and do it.
Live a life like Frank Sinatra, with regrets but “too few to mention.” Again life is too short.
8. Ditch Debbie Downers
Only keep in touch with positive people. You know how you feel after talking to someone who drains you of any energy you had, horrid.
Limit communication with them. Some people just don’t want to be happy, it’s weird but true.
Misery loves company.
9. Fake it until you make it
Again it’s a choice but if you aren’t happy, try to act happy. Research says even the simple act of smiling will make you happier.

At the end of the day the only person you report back to is the one you’re looking at in the mirror and that’s YOU so don’t worry and be happy.
